MEMORABLE SUNSET...

UN

UNTIL LAST NIGHT, I hadn't really noticed that our lack of rain had thinned the leaves enough to open up my view around the valley; I could see the setting sun again!

And what a sunset! The sky above had seemingly become a splendid stained-glass bowl, tossing glow into the trees, reflecting wide across the valley, coloring the waters of my creek and lighting up my indoor rooms.

Spectacular! Not until that long slow spread of color had finally faded did I close my eyes to sleep, as night descended.  sunset  yesterday, I hadn't been aware of how our lack of rain had thinned the leaves and opened up my view around the valley. As that hot sun sank behind my trees, the sky above and all around turned into a stained-glass bowl, tossing glow into the trees, reflecting wide across the valley, coloring the waters of my creek and lighting up my indoor rooms with antique gold.

Beautiful! Not until that long slow spread of color finally faded did I close my eyes to sleep, as night descended.

Daybreak this morning held no color, and the sky drooped low against the trees.
Since the rains expected at the end of yesterday had not materialized, Olde Rose the Water Lady was wandering outside, in the heat of early morning, pouring water on her suffering plants.

And now I say good morning to you all; I can smell my morning coffee brewing, and I'm heading back inside, into the cool of air-conditioning.
