For my big dog Mick and me,
the waning afternoon has been a time for walking.
Underneath blue sky and sun,
a pristine snow pack crunches underneath our feet,
It may be an illusion,
but we seem to feel some warmth from winter sunshine
Then the day begins to fade,
arching out of sight behind a snow-clad roof line.
For moments, only briefly,
my sycamore picks up the glow of setting sun
Shivering in the sudden cold,
my dog and I seek hearth and home. Reluctantly.
