REAL PEOPLE CAN BE REMEDY FOR THE BLUES

So many people seem depressed today, and many of these same people admit they find the news depressing. The remedy? It wouldn't hurt to try this: Turn off the TV news; don't watch it for at least one day; and go out among people! Real people! You'll find yourself laughing a little, maybe for the first time in weeks.
R.A.T.s (Rose About Town) does this on a regular basis. In return, I have decided, you have to pass your OWN smile and sense of humor around too. It magnifies and spreads the remedy.

A TAXING AFTERNOON

This is an afternoon in which my brain will make no sense for posting anything but negative spirits. I'm working on my income tax and trying hard to stay away from news today. I don't want to know what plans they have for me and my paltry contribution. Paltry in THEIR eyes, that is.
I'm also paying bills. Bills rhyme with ills.
You'll get nothing worth noting from me in this sad segment.

R.A.T.S! TO "CARD CHECK!

Whether you're pro-union or anti-union or a little of both or none of the above, are you ready to let Washington and labor unions conspire to take away the workers' right to a secret vote? (Card Check legislation). What will you give away next?

ZEROS, TRILLIONS AND FIX-UPS...

All these massive programs planned by government to "fix" things seem to me to be a bit like starting work on a new bath room and kitchen, and repainting the interior and putting in new carpeting, when the house itself is getting ready to collapse. First things first.
R.A.T. (Rose About Town) is also looking at all those government zeros and wondering why so many Americans are only seeing the ZEROS. That pile of zeros is preceded by by a number that is growing higher; that pile of zeros is TRILLIONS.

THE WINTER CREEK HAS COME TO LIFE...

It's muddy, rainy, dismal... but it's not all bad today. The temps are fairly mild, the skies have cleared enough tonight to reveal the waxing moon well on its way to full... and the creek water's visible again. I haven't seen it since early November, well covered as it's been by snow and ice. What small rivulet of water has up to now revealed itself only rarely from time to time has swelled to late-winter mighty as it swallows up the rains and upstream drainage.
My creek is trying out its voice again; it makes things look and sound alive again; it gives us hope for spring.
